Girlsby datcatComment by datcat: Thanks for all the comments. This is a photo of my daughter and grand-daughter at a lunch we had not long ago. We were sitting outdoors on the restaurant verandah. The blue blur in the top left is a car, the background was a mess so I lightened it. I tried to clone out the straw, but I didn't like my efforts and I left it in. I'd had a bit of wine and there was a lot of family commotion going on so this pic was a pleasant surprise. One day I might be able to think of shutter-speeds, apertures and have a drink all at the same time! Thanks again. |

Girlsby datcatComment by zagman: The soft glow and feel of your photograph is excellent. The moment captured with daugther and mother is priceless.
The lighting is well done in the foreground, however the lighting in the background seems a bit bright. Just the same is adds glow to the entire scene. The colors and tone give it a warm and comfortable feel. I can almost see this photo in a magazine advertisment.
The shutter speed might have been increased to avoid the blurred affect on the hands and lipstick. Since this is the focus of the image, the eye is drawn to the moving elements. Also distracting is the blue image on the upper left corner of the image. Could have been light bounce of the girl's ribbon. Only guessing.
What also is well done is the "Candid" moment captured. I am sure that as we all know with a child subject, you get only so many chances.
Great submission for the People II challenge, good luck in your future contests. |

Girlsby datcatComment by glad2badad: Good job of backlighting. Must have used some fill light to get the even tones in front also. Slight motion to the Moms (?) arm creates realism (non-posed) with this image. Nice. |

Girlsby datcatComment by mocabela: Awww... such an adorable little girl. I love the softness of this, and the brightness; I like that pink and white make up the majority of the photo, aside from the subjects' faces. There are only two distractions that I see - the blue bit in the upper right, and the slight movement of the lipstick-holding hand. I would love to see this with that blue part desaturated and lightened a bit. Regardless though, this is a very cute capture that is well framed - I like the closeness in this case. Lovely photograph. |
