homesteadby ralphComment by moswyn: Neat sky, love the limbs against it, but not enough emphasis on the "buildings", if that's what they are. |

L L Lby ralphComment by ralph: thankyou all for voting on this image & i am very pleased at being in the top 10%
"D&B comment " refered to a question asked & answered during the challenge
finding the correct focus point is been generally by luck with my infrared images
i.e. shoot with f16 but manually focus at infinity/infrared marker at f8
more pronounced motion blur would turn the water into a mat & featureless
(been experimenting with a stronger IR filter also which showed that effect)
I.E. cemetery picture
full sized image (IMO) does not show a difference in focus between foregound & background - possibly a image reduction artifact |

L L Lby ralphComment by srbrubaker: Not sure what the D&B comment was referring to, but I do notice that the two center piers appear lighter than the other two; could be accidental. The texture they reveal is one of several great strengths of the photo, IMO. Would be nice to see the same in the other two piers. As good as the image is, I think it might be better if the sluice - or whatever the foreground structure is - were sharply in focus and the motion blur in the water were more pronounced. |

homesteadby ralphComment by notonline: This photo does not suggest to me it is abandoned but in ruin. It also looks more like a silhouette then a building. There is also a sun spot on your lense. You can see it on the second stone? from the bottom right and it is very distracting. Excellent colors tho. Good luck in this chalenge. |

L L Lby ralphComment by Kathy: A note to this photographer - and all the rest of you.
Please, won't you all identify the location of your image (as well as what it is!)
There are so many wonderful works of art in this world - both man-made and God-gifted. Won't you be generous enough to tell us what and where they are?
Our learning process at dpChallenge shouldn't be limited only to the photography.
Gee, think this might be a pet-frustration!?! Thanks. Kathy Message edited by author 2005-04-13 01:02:12. |
