Honestly, this image is not in focus, even for a silhouette. There is potential here, but I think reshooting with a tripod or a higher ISO would greatly improve the image. Also, size is an issue - if you could recrop some of the bottom out and make it bigger I'm sure it would open up the image. Right now, with all the black and the funky frame it seems a little claustrophobic to me. Good luck in the challenge!

There are 4 things that hurt this photo in my opinion. There appears to be a halo around the bird, probably a post processing artifact. The photo is essentially a silhouette, but the positive/negative space isn't that interesting. Focus is very soft, too soft for my taste. And the border detracts. Sorry to sound negative, but maybe the comments will help you next time.
