The effects work great. This definitely has a Renaissance feeling to it (thanks Rich). You still have to have an eye for what you capture, whether w/a cell phone or a camera. Fascinating that the birds are an overlay, they add a nice touch.

Beautiful image, so like a Renaissance painting. These newfangled phones are incredible, but of course it's primarily the eye of the photographer. The sunlight and shadows on the church tower are clean, clear and uplifting. The textures and colors are stunning. Very impressive. My camera and I are starting to feel obsolete.

I know what you want to achieve but to me it looks like a painting that yellowed in time and needs cleaning. I might be partial because my best friend is an art conservator and I see for years paintings in various state of aging

loving this Germaine .. distressed .. what a great word for an artistic application ..
and i'd be saying .. dont feel guilty .. we all come at a creation by different routes .. its quite possible that you may have taken a photograph of those birds yourself .. on another day ..
its how we use the tools we have that is the 'important' thing .. just my opinion ..
the light in this photograph is stunning btw .. just glowing .. and the textured look is totally fitting for your subject ..
the addition of the birds .. thats a coup de grâce .. !! .. :)
