Sorrows Triangleby smilebig4me1xComment by SDW: I think lighting was an issue on this picture. It meet the challenge with no problem and is a good picture. It seems to have only a light source coming from the left seeing the angle of shadow on the stars. I think the picture would of been great with another light source because it would of limited the noise throughout the picture and also blocked some of the shadows. With that said what a great shot and a tribute to our fallen hero's either during war or after service. That triangle means a lot to so many. I think a mood should be set on a picture like this. Maybe b&w or a duotone. If you ever get the chance to re-shot this picture IMO it would be well worth it. Make sure you have enough lighting to limit noise and experiment with mood tones. And if the owner of the Triangle don't mind you may want to set it on the table with a dark base and background so that the wood on the wall will not compete with the frame. If you do re-shot this picture, please let me know I would love to see it. |

Lunar bath saltsby smilebig4me1xComment by SJCarter: We have luna moths in VA too (and I was just able to capture one a few days ago - on camera). Fantastic display of colors and composition. As several other people have said, I think that if you could have been able to remove the additional glass in the upper right it would have helped your score. You still received an 8 from me.
Also, I'm curious as to how you achieved the similar magenta color on the edge of the moth, as I don't recall them having that particular color at all. Don't get me wrong - it's brilliant that you were able to bring it out! I'm just jealous that I haven't seen one so remarkable. :-)
Thanks again for sharing such a unique and insightful perspective in your photography. I hope you don't take it the wrong way, but I feel a certain kinship to someone else in the mid-atlantic area of the country!
Keep it up!
Jimmy

Lunar bath saltsby smilebig4me1xComment by tristalisk: wow great color and interesting idea. I feel that the vibrant colors and the dark background work very well with eachother. I must admit however that while I fully recognize what I am looking at I have no idea whatsoever of its signifigance or symbology. I get a feeling that there is somthing to this shot that I am missing. Overall very nice shot that ios pleasant to look at. 7 |
