I can't believe most of the comments below...it must be quite dull to go through life with no imagination or firm grasp of language for some of these people...some of these comments are just amazingly rude and make the commenter seem...well...just kinda dense...at least...AT LEAST open a dictionary people before you say something doesn't meet a challenge...then open your minds.

It is amazing how some people on this site, built around being creative, can have no sense of creativity at all. It might stem (no pun intended) from the fact that anyone today can get a good quality camera that will give them nice photos so they instantly think they are an expert.

Sorry you didn't do so well but don't let the closed minded people deter you, this shot has a history and meaning to you so it is great.

Sorry, I personally don´t really think this fits with the theme of this challenge, too bad since this would have been perfect for the texture challenge. Like the shot but I didn´t want to give it 5 because of the loose tie in with the theme, IMHO you shouldn´t have to rely on the title to connect a shot with the challenge.

Oh man, and then the textures challenge was announced. Nice processing. Can't exactly get my mind to accept this as a good representative for family. If it had even a small seedling growing somewhere in the scene, you would have gotten high marks from me.

Good metaphoric image/idea & good photograph. It's strange; as I look at these tangled roots I can just about see glimpses of people in there, or at least bits of people. Arms, torsos, etc. It's a very organic sort of image. Oh dear, no more whiskey for me tonight. 8
