I think I would have liked this better if there had been greater depth of field. The spiral carries your eye without needing make any part of this out of focus.

has a weird optical illusion to it with the spiral going off the page, kind of like, is it spiraling in or out feel to it. The depth of field is bothering me, I wonder if it would be better with it all sharp in focus...not sure. Got a hair or something bottom left but I'm sure everyone has mentioned that. You got good detail and was able to get nice and close but the salt doesn't offer much in the way of interest to me. Good luck.

great idea - looks gret except for the - cat hair? I really like this photo and initially gave it a higher rating until I noticed the reflection of the mesh of the fabric and the white line near the bottom left. I would try this one again on different fabric

i think the pattern and the DoF should cooperate more - focus should be on the middle of the spiral because that's where the eye is pulled to.
otherwise, excellent.
