Portland Head Lightby jaxterComment by blindjustice: I took this picturte once. I like the birds and the position of the tower in the square crop. A bit blown out though, but still better than average. |

Faery Tale Dreamsby jaxterComment by jaxter: Thank you all for your helpful comments. The setup I used for this shot wasn't the most ideal it could have been. The bed was a twin, placed against a wall with a window in it. I hung a white sheet behind to to reduce the glare from the window. I couldn't agree more that a flatter angle would have been better, and I did take a few shots that way. Couldn't go any lower without catching my hanging sheet on the shot though. Lesson learned... take the time to pull the bed away from the window where the harsh light isn't a factor.
I must also thank my daughter for once again being my model. It never fails to amaze me how well she can take direction and understand how I want her to pose with only a brief description of what I want. |

Portland Head Lightby jaxterComment by LN13: All lighthouses get a bonus point from me. This is a really nice shot. I know it's a square crop challenge, but I'm just not sure the square crop works well for Portland Head. Did you go down on the rocky beach below where you were standing for this shot. It's a great angle. |

Young Loveby jaxterComment by jaxter: Thank you both for your comments. I half expected when I submitted it that there would be a few shots similar out there in the voting pool, but I really liked the concept and am pleased with the way it turned out. I tend to shoot for the pleasure of my own eye rather than the voters eyes so I've come to expect a few low placers. I am pleased that you two were also able to appreciate my photo. |
