Looking for breakfastby janskuComment by fotomann_forever: 2 things wrong with this photo.
Tilted horizon .. get it straight, or go wild with it.
Depth of Field, larger aperture would have thrown the other building in the background more out of focus and made this shot more appealing. Or you could have gone for a tighter crop and just eliminated it all together. |

Pulp factoryby janskuComment by Bus352: This has so much potential, especially the top half (slightly below the bridge structure)---Let's crop off the bottom half. The smoke hiding part of the stack and the smoke of the far left is very impressive. The bottom is very busy and not too interesting. If possible, I'd also boost up some contrast--great in noise and B&W. |

Pulp factoryby janskuComment by talmy: Works well and graininess is a plus. There is a strange "O" in the smoke. Also good thing there is no "scratch 'n sniff" feature. |

Disposalby janskuComment by DrAchoo: The coversion to B&W is excellent. Very well done. The composition could maybe be a bit stronger with a little less centeredness. Perhaps shift to the left toward the sign. The sign is better than the big pole in the background.
Ultimately the subject probably got you. It's too "snapshot" or mundane. We see fat guys throw away trash every day. Why are we looking at a picture of it? That being said, you did as well as you could. I'd have given a 6 just for the crisp B&W. |
