Rows of gullsby karldComment by shaver: Greetings from the Critique Club
I am happy to get this great shot to critique! You did a great job with the Shallow DOF, your photo meets the challenge perfectly. Now for my attempt to help you to score better:
I notice that the focus is a little soft on the subject (this was possibly on purpose), this can cost some points with the voters. I believe that the contrast could be bumped up a little bit. Your shot was taken in the middle of the day where the lighting is not always desirable, (I know that this was when the opportunity presented itself) however the voters here score photos taken at dawn and dusk higher since the lighting creates a more dramatic impact.
I really like your shot and believe that it should have scored higher.
Keep shooting shots like this one and you will ribbon soon.

Rows of gullsby karldComment by jazzie: Great shot - nice light - a rare chance all gulls together - moments later probably gone. |

Rows of gullsby karldComment by kteach: Just back for some comments...
How did you manage to find all of those birds posing so nicely for you? The composition is great with the line of posts and the railing both leading into the focal point. I think the only thing lacking in this picture for me was the dull color. The swan biting the duck's tail on the right is also kind of silly! I gave this one a 9. Good luck! |
