Dinerby AliciaComment by noraneko: What a perfect setting for b&w - and what a great job you did! I don't think it is cheating to use photos from previous shoots - almost all of mine are. This is lovely Americana / photojournalism. Very well done indeed. |

Dinerby AliciaComment by Bruce_the_Robert: Nicely seen, shot and processed. I love images that take the ordinary and make me look at it. I've been in tons of diners, but I'm not sure I've ever "seen" one in the way you've shown it to me. The contrast and tones here work well in bringing the diner across as subject. Nice. |

Same Cat Different Dayby AliciaComment by jonfrommk: Great leading lines created by the sun, and the strip of light makes for a great frame for the cat
I struggle personally with sharpening on my own shots...I love clear but sometimes overdo it a fraction and possibly the same is true here
Dont know why but I also find the tablecloth in the background really appealing for some reason |

Cat in Tree.jpgby AliciaComment by roz: i'm thinking a different blending mode might work better ... maybe if you tried playing around with the overlayed layer ... like there are so many options ... (excuse me while i open photoshop so i can look .. my memory is not reliable!!) ..
you can just sort'v scroll down the different blending modes and it will change on your image .. you then can change the opacity coz different modes will be better at different opacities .. when you use these blending modes they wont show on an area that is either white or black .. you can sometimes paint an area with grey on your normal layer, where there is white or black, so that the overlaid one shows .. i did that with my driving image ...
i've copied this for you coz its too hard to explain ... if i havent totally confused then we're both winners ... my terminology might be a bit off .. but by modes i mean eg .. normal, dissolve, darken, multiply etc etc ... :)..x
