LADDER 1by cp5140Comment by SandyP: Wow! I really love this one! What a different take and look on the challenge. The grain makes it look nostalgic and old-timey, and something about the people do too. One of my favorites! I hope this is doing really well! 10 |

Jazzby cp5140Comment by Phil: Greetings from the Critique Club Cory!
This is a difficult image for me to critique as there is not much I'd change here. Personally I feel that it would've even done better if the voters were more open minded that zoom blur is truly considered motion blur. Heck, it even says so in the challenge description. I like the emotion on the singers face and the upright bass player behind her is a nice touch.
As I said, there is not much I'd change for this exact shot so I'll comment, for future challenge reference, as to what might've got you a better score. Voters here really dig the color - the more the better. They need that "pop" to make them hand out high scores. If this jazz bar had some colorful neon lights behind the singer I think you would've done better. This would've added the "pop" I mentioned, plus neon lights with zoom blur are most interesting indeed.
Overall, an excellent shot that should've placed much higher in my honest opinion.
Thanks for the opportunity to critique this image Cory.
Cheers - Phil |

LADDER 1by cp5140Comment by fotomann_forever: With the amount of noise in this image, I think the frame should have been excluded. The smooth frame against the grain of the image feels unnatural.
Overall, the image looks good though and I love the composition and love the post-process, I think it adds to the grain. |

Did you shoot this with a wide angle lens? |
I shot this with this lens: Canon EF 22-55mm f/4.0-5.6 USM
