""My child, pet and best friend"by slamminComment by ClubJuggle: *Critique Club*
FIRST IMPRESSION: Great shot, well lit. Not sure what the $20 and pen are for. Good choice of subject
CHALLENGE: Meets the challenge.
COMPOSITION: The composition is excellent. I love the "line" of the left side of the guitar against the left edge of the frame.
TECHNICAL: Black and white was a very good choice for this shot. Lighting and exposure are nearly flawless. My only complaint is the hot spot on the front of the guitar.
CONCLUSION: Great shot. It's a shame you hadn't understood the challenge before you shot this, as without the pen and money it would probably have done even better.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in future challenges! |

""My child, pet and best friend"by slamminComment by joanns: Excellent! I love the perspective you took. The clarity is perfection. Don't know why there's a pen on your guitar, it doesn't make sense to me, unless it's there to sign autographs of your adoring fans. |

""My child, pet and best friend"by slamminComment by ChrisW123: You know... I've got the same guitar, only gloss black with rosewood fret board. I'm going to have to make a great looking guitar picture like this one. :) I think you should have made the white a little whiter tho. |

"An Extra Piece?"by slamminComment by jmsetzler: Greetings from the Critique Club :)
The concept of 'square' here is very strong. Your image also drew me in to make me look and think :) I played with the puzzle in my mind but I can't make it work out in my head :)
I like the color in the image as well.. the strong colors are always nice. I wouldn't change anything compositionally here either.
I don't really know why this shot didn't score a little higher. It is an interesting photo. The comments you received don't seem to indicate much negativity either. Maybe it's posslble that the 'novelty' concept of the photograph did not create much impact for the viewer. The 'artistic' value of the photo may not have the "i want to hang this on my wall' factor.
Keep up the good work :)

""My child, pet and best friend"by slamminComment by Lustre: I really like this photo - my brother would love it (being a guitarist). Perspective and framing are wonderful. I think the money, pen and pick detract from it slightly though - I would have kept the guitar on it's own. It's a really nice picture overall - definitely worthy of printing. |
