Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment by nards656: I can't explain why I like this, but I do. Good shot. His expression says a lot, but the "photo" in the background carries a huge air of mystery that keeps me staring at the shot. 9 |

Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment by Swashbuckler: Very nice portrait. Did he know you were taking his picture? It has a good, candid feel to it. Good contrasts, both in lighting and with the second face in the background. 8 Swash |

Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment by karmat: This is simply an awesome portrait. The angle of his jaw is very powerful, yet is expression is one of a more subdued look. The black and white works very well here, I think. Great work. |

Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment by lisae: It's amazing the way you caught the parallel between the guy's profile and whatever is in the background! Beautiful, rich tones, and great diffuse lighting on the guy's face. The framing/composition is tight. I like it a lot! 10. |

Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment by drewmedia: This is definitely another of my favorites from the week. I love the background in this shot -- both the face and the slanted grey, cutting through the white. The portrait itself is very nice. Your subject really pops out of the background, and I think that's what makes the shot. The left side of the image seems to fade off pretty dark, and I'm not sure if that was intentional. 9. |

Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment by Manic: This is an amazingly good candid shot, and the use of b&w is the perfect choice for this. The framing so that the background face echoes the main subject is either very well spotted, or incredibly good luck :o) Perhaps a touch more light on the jacket would have helped, but given that its a candid I know that you would have had little control over that. I am curious however as to what the background is, since the edges of it are very clean, and there appears to be a foldline down part of it... |

Bloomingdales Candid 1by smellyfish1002Comment by HBunch: I love how the 2 faces are similar. Different, yet similar. The angle of the face in the background is nice. Nothing distracting. Very clear, well focused shot. Angle and framing/cropping are great. I like the darkness (lighting) of the man. I think that it adds a lot with the background lighting being lighter and the lighting on him being being darker. a nice contrast that way. Great portrait. Good luck in the challenge. |
