Indeed. The strenght of a portrait is in the eyes. Here the visual expression is enhanced by a well determined facial expression. The lighting is on the money and the framing is superb. Bumping up.

i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image as a guinnea pig as to what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.

excellent work! the lighting, composition, focus, expression--everything comes together here. the range of tonalities and the textures all come through. i hope to have this much control when i take my turn! 8 from me.
