The eyes immediately caught my attention- very nice although I agree that they somehow do seem sliiiightly out of place - right eye iris edge is a little hard for me too. Maybe also because there are such nice other textures just crying to be taken advantage of? Maybe the light is a little too open and flattens those nice textures - could be a bit more dramatic?

I like the composition of this and you really nailed the focus! I'm not a portrait photog nor a photoshop wizard, but I'd say to maybe try to do a bit less with the eyes in this one. Perhaps just a bit of dodging to brighten them. The edges do look a bit unnatural but only if you're looking for that (which I did, since you mentioned it.)

Great detail. I noticed the eye as well, more on the right eye. Seems like the edge of the iris is a tad too hard.

Great shot! The expression and lighting are first rate. The eyes are good, but maybe a little over the top. They don't look natural when compared to the rest of the face. Too sharp maybe?

PAW - I really like this portrait. Good composition and expression. The shine on the nose and shadows indicate somewhat harsh lighting. Try diffusing or bouncing the flash. nova mentioned Scott Kelby's Photoshop CS2 book. I had his CS3 book in my hand today at Costco, but instead chose the Adobe written CS3 book with CD and on-line access. Maybe I made a mistake because the Kelby book looked really good. Maybe I'll spring for another $30 and get it also.

I think this is a great shot you might want to take some shine off the nose

I think you did a real nice job on the post processing. I don't remember if you've said which version of Photoshop you are using, but I highly recommend the Scott Kelby book "the photoshop CS2 book for digital photographers". It has a lot of tips and pointers for retouching portraits.
