It wasn't me!by kiwinessComment by Natasha: Critique Club
Composition-Content
Now this is a picture which I think deserved to do much better! Your idea is very original and you executed it well. Composition is great, with the cheese lined up across the picture. It fits the challenge perfectly but in a unique and humourous way.
Background
Perhaps the background could be a bit darker, boosting the shadow channel would have created a darker background.
Technical
Lighting looks great, perhaps slightly brighter would have been good, this could have been adjusted in post processing. Focus looks a little soft, but your aperture is not the reason....? Perhaps a tiny bit more sharpening would have helped.
My Opinion
Great, original shot! I agree with the one comment that a different colour string would have helped it stand out against the background. Excellent shot which should have scored higher IMO! Good Luck in the next challenge. |

Modem plugby kiwinessComment by lisae: I think this is an excellent stock photo that would have a lot of applications. The only problem I see is the yellow background. Most stock photography of this nature that I see uses blue or neutral backgrounds because they are less likely to clash with the colour scheme of the other material the photo will be used to support. Yellow seems like a risk to me. |

Stairway to heavenby kiwinessComment by inspzil: Greetings from the Critique Club

Composition - You could've used this photo for any number of recent challenges, yellow and perspective come to mind right away. The sky looks a gorgeous blue color... too much so even. The sky is pixelating probably from oversaturation. The subject has very good colors and is a pretty good candidate for a rhythm shot. The building this is attached to provides a good distraction for this pic. Unfortunately we aren't looking for "good" distractions and actually is a bit of an eyesore. I am sure it HAS to be there to hold the tower up. The tower would've been great if it could've been standing there on its own. It does have some great colors and is well worth taking pics of.
Technical - Nice clear shot! Very well taken. Good exposure and DOF. The big hangup in the processing area is the pixelating sky. The rest of the colors seem like they are ok. The angles of this shot are quite puzzling with neither of the structures being vertical nor horizontal on their axes. I'm not saying that's bad, but perhaps a bit "curious" instead.
Overall - A pretty nice shot with very nice color (except for the sky). Very well taken picture with some abstract angles. I think it meets the challenge pretty well. Nice pic, good luck in upcoming challenges - Bob |
