I can't decide what I think about this shot. Part of me wants to reject it as trivial, but part of me sees something a lot more sublime than my first glance says is there. I might be back to change my vote, but if it stays at a '6', you'll know why; I can't make up my mind. If nothing else, you're challenging me to really look at this photo, which is what all good photographers should do :-)

I may have been tempted by some renovation here to the right hand window to get a bit more symmetry by removing the obscuring plank. That aside though this is a neat idea.

unfortunately the cactus are so central to the photo, it's hard to really have a sense of the larger desert.

The way it is now, the cacti are rather obstacles in the view than constructive subjects. If they were in full, and in sharp focus, it would have worked better for me. For this kind of shot to make it effective, it's also good to have some clouds in the sky... (if not, that makes the photographer unlucky).

I wish the composition of the pic allowed me to see the whole cactus. And also more of the desert. At the moment it seems like I am looking at half a cactus that is blocking my view of the desert. :)

the square crop and centering didn't do to well here. 5
