unfortunately the cactus are so central to the photo, it's hard to really have a sense of the larger desert. |

The way it is now, the cacti are rather obstacles in the view than constructive subjects. If they were in full, and in sharp focus, it would have worked better for me. For this kind of shot to make it effective, it's also good to have some clouds in the sky... (if not, that makes the photographer unlucky). |

Good picture of cactus. But I keep wanting to move to the side to get the cactus out of the way of the shot. |

I wish the composition of the pic allowed me to see the whole cactus. And also more of the desert. At the moment it seems like I am looking at half a cactus that is blocking my view of the desert. :) |

the square crop and centering didn't do to well here. 5 |

NIce and sharp. I would suggest a less centered crop. They cacti compete strongly with the mountain(or vice versa). Actually I think a vertical crop would be the best. Just my .02. |

I find the composition here awkward. The background hill and foreground cactus overlap, the cactus is cut off (can't see the whole thing), and it's all centered. |

I like the detail of the cactus, but I don't really understand what your intention is with this crop or central placement of the cactus. |

I like this, but I think a different angle may be better. I wish I could see the entire cactus, and that it wasn't so centered. JMO of course. :) |

personally, I think that this is too centered ... the cactus is centered, the mountain is centered and the horizon is close to centered ... |

Back to comment: You did a nice job with the exposure and post processing of this image but the composition baffles me. You have a primary subject and a secondary subject in the image and you hide the secondary one behind the primary subject and both are dead center in the compostion. Plus, you cropped the primary subject off at its virtual waistline. Please revisit this location if you can and play around a bit with the composition. Shoot from some different angles (Example: Put the catus in the front left third of the image and the hill in the back right third of the image). |
