I'm assuming that the badly out of focus shot was on purpose, however, it doesn't appeal to me that way. definately fits the challenge, drugs and alcohol in a rough time. The area of white in the metal tin is quite bright compared to the rest of the shot and draws the attention there, and holds it. can't tell if the red liquid to the right is suposed to be alcohol, or blood. guess it's imagination time. :) good luck in the challenge.

As this is out of focus, I can't properly get a feel for the despair. The broken mirror?? seems a bit redundant and seems to clutter the image a bit.
