Rain, rain, go away ...by levyj413Comment by Melethia: The eye is drawn more toward the deck chairs and tables in the background. I suspect it's because of the lighting. I do like the compostion - your model looks rather disappointed. |

Rain, rain, go away ...by levyj413Comment by Jaded_Housewife: This could use maybe a litle more contrast as well as losing the necklace. I think it hinders the illusion that she was ready to go out to the pool but it started raining. nice concept and nice expression from your model. |

Silver spoonletby levyj413Comment by levyj413: Many thanks for the comments. To the folks who thought this was a still spoon under a glass plate, I'm afraid it isn't. Rather, I took shots of drops falling from my faucet. Hence the need for a fast exposure. Didn't realize how badly the flash showed up, though! Just need to get more light on the subject. And I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind when I try that glass plate concept.
I was trying for a variation on when I used a sponge as a background. Of course, the sponge reflected the flash evenly:
I think you get differently shaped drops when they're falling than when you spray them on glass, so I'll try both techniques some more.
This was my first challenge, and I appreciate the learning experience! |
