'Down' On The Farmby SheryllComment by dtremain: Interesting image. You've done some things here that are a bit unusual. You've combined bright colored images of the turkey head and wheel, with a natural tan shot of the corn. Not sure the small borders help. Much of the top pane is OOF due to shallow DOF and includes much more than is needed above the turkey head. |

'Down' On The Farmby SheryllComment by Haneck: The saturation seems a little harsh on the wheel, and all the red in the first two photos makes me almost wish there's red in the last one... but I love the expression of that bird! Too funny... he must suspect thanksgiving is coming! |

Ape Cave Lava Tubeby SheryllComment by glad2badad: As shot, I like it overall. I wonder how this would look with the foreground lighting toned down a bit. ??? I think the light at the end of the tunnel would be more dramatic then. Just my opinion of course. :-) |

Ape Cave Lava Tubeby SheryllComment by Yo_Spiff: Post-vote comment:
I generally liked this entry and I gave it a 6. Nice leading composition, good details, and the one area of bright color draws me to it. My nitpick is that the close area to the bottom left, and some of the cavern floor, appears to be lit far differently than the rest of the scene and it does not come off as well as the rest of the image. It looks like utilitarian lighting. Probably your flashlight. It really is hard to tell how these long exposures will come off until you see the result later. I suspect that aspect of the lighting may be the main reason for any low votes this is getting. |

No Guard Railby SheryllComment by Sheryll: Originally posted by MelonMusketeer: It strikes me in this shot that the limbs are blown off the one side of most of the trees. That is a pretty steep grade. I hope that you were not driving as you shot this one. |
No I wasn't driving.... I was the passenger which means I was on the side without the rail.. lol. I'm glad you noticed the limbs on the trees. This was actually taken up near windy ridge at the edge of the blast zone of Mt St Helens. It's nearly 30 years later and the trees that were snapped in half and those blown down were sort of frozen in time that day. Life is returning but the death and destruction of that blast is still visible in a big way. |
