"Nessie"by JokersSoulComment by Cory: Good job, it is actually harder to discern than the original..
Honestly, I don't like how the grain ended up looking, but overall this is a 6.. |

Swing Batta Batta!by JokersSoulComment by treimee: Why so much pixelation and distortion? Without that this would proably be a really good photo! I can see how the HDR would have worked especially on the grass. |

Mt. Garfield's Windowby JokersSoulComment by mycelium: Great choice of subject for this challenge, and nicely framed. You've done a lovely job of bringing out the full tonal range, and the effect is striking. As some voters suggested, you might have toned it down a bit, but that's largely a matter of taste.
In the realm of constructive criticism, I have a couple of things to offer perhaps for next time:
- The focus looks a little soft. I don't know if this was intentional, but I see that "Sharpen" is in your PP notes. Do you ever use Unsharp Mask? I find it does a much better job about 99% of the time. Try a radius of .3 to .5 pixels with a threshold of 0.
- The white lines on the cinema-style border are a bit bright. A more neutral gray would have had the same effect without drawing the eye out of the frame.
A solid entry in a difficult challenge! Looking forward to seeing more landscapes from you. |
