The Lion Sleepsby blemtComment by PerezDesignGroup: Sorry, but I feel the subject matter is a tad dull. Maybe next time you can poke it in the eye and run while snappin' pics :) Just kidding. Good focus and exposure. 5. |

The Lion Sleepsby blemtComment by Kavey: Well you KNOW I have a weakness for these animals and this one is a fine specimen. The golden light really shows his fur off to it's best advantage and I like how the autumn foliage on the ground complements the colours in his mane. In terms of pose I don't think this is particularly striking as his mouth is somewhat obscured by grass and leaves and there's no eye contact or action to draw us in. |

Old Post Officeby blemtComment by Tranquil: Hey...
I think that this shot suffered from too little detail due to underexposure in the building. I felt that the building was the focal point of the shot, not the sky. To even out exposure slightly, a graduation ND filter might have been of use. Alternatively, you could use a fill flash through your camera or in PS. The digital camera can only see such a range of light that exposures that are many stops different within a photograph are hard to meter.
I also feel that the branches are unneeded.
But...I do think that the sky is beautiful...perhaps a closer crop with a little bit of what i suggested before would help. I hope you dont mind but i did a little bit of editing that might help.

Capitol Interludeby blemtComment by Tranquil: Hey Clara...
Came across this image and I really enjoy viewing it. I gave it an eight in the challenge as it appealed to me as a strong image. You have a super-sharp focusing plane from the people in the foreground to the capitol building in the background. Marvelous.
I feel that one thing that is detracting from the shot is that there is a little too much sky above the capitol. I feel that that can be cropped out to just above the tip of the statue. Another thing that you might think about doing is making the foreground a little bit more contrasty so that it sticks out from the bright sky in the background. Lastly, as for changing the shot, if you cropped out some off of the right to make the capitol as close to the center as possible it would have a strong sense of symmetry.
I really like how I spend some time in the foreground and then slowly travel through the interesting background. It really is a great capture and a wonderful piece. Thanks for sharing it on DPC.

Curlby blemtComment by leaf: nice detail and attention to parts. it is not quite as sharp as i would like it.. perhaps a square framing would work better for this, i am not sure what bothers me about it. Decent image.. good background color, perhaps a little boost of contrast would help this image a little.
