Blooms in Darknessby weineComment by weine: Yes, I agree that the focus is in the wrong place. Since I took this photo when travelling I had no option to go back and take another shot with the right bits in focus though. The reason I picked the photo for the Free Study is that I love how the colours turned out. I normally never edit my photos (this image is only slightly cropped), meaning that if the colours don't look nice right out of the camera I don't use the photo.
Now, in arrears I should probably take more photos of the same object, to ensure that at least one of them ends up with correct focus :)
Anyway, thanks for the feedback! |

Blooms in Darknessby weineComment by Robski: Nice use of colour but feel the focus is in the wrong place, i would of removed the flower head bottom right and re-shot this with the point of focus being the yellow centre of your big flower. |

Thanks! Yes, sadly the flower isn't quite in focus.
We got to this section of the botanical garden so late that we had to rush through it;
too much time spent looking at the bonzai exhibition. On top of that I was quite unfocused myself,
since it was too warm for my comfort (though I guess I shouldn't complain since I was told that
back home it was +6°C; we had +29°C). |

waterfallby weineComment by weine: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it (though, truth to tell the trip was so awesome in itself that I wouldn't even have minded to end up last).
If you're referring to the circular black thing, then it's actually a rock or something in the waterfall (I compared to the photos I took from other angles, just to make sure). I can agree that it doesn't look very nice though...
The foreground is indeed shaky. |

waterfallby weineComment by EstimatedEyes: really? 202nd place? This one should have done much better. I think that black spot of sensor dust or dead pixels in the middle might have taken you down a little and the foreground looks a little shaky, but that waterfall is fantastic! |
