Good idea for a story ,ine, I think you need to have the grass the same colour in all 3 shots though to help continuity.

This is an interesting approach, but the lighting really ruins what could have been a great shot. It appears that you used straight-on lighting (such as an on-camera flash) and that resulted in very flat lighting, a poor shadow around the apple, and the hot spot in the middle. The conversion to B&W just emphasises the flatness of it. Try lighting it from the left side or somewhere between the front and side. The shadow could then become a graphical element of the image, and the roundess of it would work well with the pi theme.

pi hacked out too quick and dirty. I believe if it was more carefully carved, sharper and in color it would have been better.
