sepia expanseby itakephotosComment by Matthew: It is tough taking a shot into the light - the contrast of the bright sky and dark gound is hard to balance. But it looks like you took the picture at a good time of day, and I like the sepia effect. |

water wheelby itakephotosComment by Matthew: I had a great time when I visited the Noria in Hama - the creaking sounds were most memorable!
As I recall, there are a number of them - this looks like one of the bigger ones, but unfortunately the light is not great. The best time (though inconvenient for a day trip) would be at dawn or dusk, with the Noria in the light and out of the deep shadow. It might also be interesting at night - a long exposure of a moving wheel would be interesting. |

mawn lowerby itakephotosComment by JBHale: Hello from the Critique Club!
When I first look at this image all I see is a regular picture of a lawn mower turned upside down. I think that might be why you didn't score higher. Voters look for more creativitity in challenges like this.
That aside, I think your image does have an interesting composition. The leading lines made by the stone path are really very nice. I think you gave a good idea of distortion, which works well in the upside down challenge. The focus is also very nice down by the lawn mower.
However, where you are lacking is in color. The colors seem very washed out. To me, it looks like it was the conditions under which you took the picture. Overcast skies, although they create nice, level lighting, also make for dully lit pictures that lack nice contrast and bold colors. However, it could just be the camera.
Good job overall!
