~Reflections of a Purple Plasmatini~by
DamzelComment by levyj413: One thing to take away is that your 5 commenters LOVED it, since they averaged 8.0 and you got a favorite. I can suggest a few things that would make me like it more, though.
First is the composition. The curves seem to sweep upward to me, so I'd try it as a vertical shot instead of horizontal. That'd mean cropping in on the sides, which would also have the benefit of removing a lot of the dead black space in the lower corners.
I'd also try it cropping off some of the bottom, to move the glass toward the bottom of the shot. Often, with a backlit glass, the stem adds to the beauty. But here, it's basically black.
Same goes for the liquid in the glass. It's just a big black triangle, whereas the impact of this shot comes from the colorful curves.
Finally, and this is a general point about DPC, sharp sharp sharp does better than blurred. A smaller aperture would give you deeper depth of field, allowing you to have the full rim in focus.
Overall, it's a pretty shot, and with more practice, the technicals will come. Just keeping being creative! :)
