Complex. Eccentric. Lively. That'd be me.by PrashComment by eqsite: Not a single comment on this -- well since you were so kind as to present me with one of your awards, I'll resolve that. It's not quite sharp enough for DPC, but I like the softness - it says something about your personality. The colors are great, and I really like the nice buttery background. I think what probably hurt this the most in scoring is the subject placement. The flower's stem is too strong of a leading line for such a centered composition. If you had removed the top 1/4 of the image or simply placed the flower in the top-right of the image it probably would have scored better. Of course, scores aren't everything and I suspect you are rather fond of this image, as you should be. |

However does it fit the challenge? |

N/Aby PrashComment by VitaminB: I'm very picky about selective desaturation images. They can work really well, but it is a technique that I find overused as well (I have overused it many times myself). In this image though, I find it particularly effective, as it draws attention to the leaves nicely. The strong lines of the bench/deck give the shot a nice geometric feel as well. Great photo. |

Pain.by PrashComment by e10icus: I think this is one of your best. The composition, the capture of emotion/feeling, and the processing are all done very well. It deserved a much higher score/placement. (Ah, just saw it was a free study. I think you automatically add .5 to the score for that)
8-)
Additionally, I applaud you for even taking the shot in the first place. I am still not comfortable with taking candid shots of strangers. Maybe, once I get more comfortable with my photography itself, that is something that will take care of itself.
Nicely done. |
