I'll tell you the only reason I gave this a 7: the lighting. Sure, it's a bold perspective, it uses good focus techniques, even good design principles. It's a very cliched perspective though. But the lighting, the personalities of the colors, blend together so that this picture gives you not only a sense of what your subject is, but in what setting your subject might be located.

I love when the photographer is bold. A lot of people on this website can't say that; you can. You were unafraid to get up close to your subject and explore. You found an interesting subject, however I think we'd agree that the background isn't ideal. But because you had the sense to focus wholey on the foreground, the juxtaposition, this photo turned out pretty well. The texture is amazing.

You might think of you 7 as a job well done, a great mark. I look at it as a decrease in your potential. What I mean by this is that you are obviously unafraid to get up close to your subject, explore it's nuances, get specific, find a theme. I just think leaves with raindrops are overused. Good job with the pic. Try some unconventional subject matter in the future.

Awesome. You capture the working-class kitchen of the 60s here. Go in a little closer--don't be afraid to take a new angle or zoom in on a particularly interesting feature. The best stories involve specific details rather than a huge generalization. Such is true for the best photography. There's plenty of time in life to tackle all the objects pictured here; your job is to convince me that they all belong there together. If not, zoom in--get more specific.

I love sepia, and I love when photographers are unafraid to get close to their subject matter. I can't stress enough how bold it is of you to decide how you want us [the viewers] to see the picture, and not let us decide how you should take the picture.

Just very cool texture. I'd have given you lower if you hadn't been bold enough to get past the catalog-ad, eloquent feel of chestnuts and a nutcracker and zoom in close. It's a bold move when a photographer decides to cast off the general and bask in specificity. You move from a simple picture to a cropped image that illustrates the delicacy of design.

This is so weird, but so delicate. Still Life photography is very much about delicacy or ruggedness. I think it has to do with texture. Beauty is in the texture, and the transparent film of these "leaves" gives the viewer a light, fleeting feeling.

Pictures of leaves are so cliche, so it's so refreshing when someone photographs them correctly. I like how you use different types of leaves.

I love this because of the colors, and not many people know how to do color correctly. Great job.

I'd be hypocritical if i didn't say that i don't like centerpiece pictures. You definitely get my vote because of the black and white film. It captures so much. For instance, the delicate flowers, the fragility of you subject, contrasts beautifully with the grain of the wood and the books in the background. these are three subjects that were meant to be together.
