Tonawanda: Gateway to the Erie Canalby lwkimagesComment: FAR too much fun with photoshop! It's certainly a dramatic shot, no question there. Purely on a personal taste, the way that the image has been so editted seems a bit excessive, but then i'd imagine there are others who will no doubt totally dig what you've done. I do acknowledge that it's been altered skilfully - the red in the water is an especially good touch. I wouldn't have polarised the buildings - I think that's thing that i can't quite digest. Sky is gorgeous though - I would have been tempted to crop it with two thirds sky, rather than two-thirds water. it just seems a little unbalanced. good brave effort though. 6. |

Unexpected Invitation by ZoomdakComment: Is this one of the best results for a 2MP camera? This is quite some feat, and is surely testament to the fact that what we have here is a very gifted and skilled photographer, who also has an eye for great scenery. well done on the ribbon, and very well deserved too!

Downtown Tampa by tyt2000Comment: What a gorgeous skyline! This is a fantastic picture, and would make a fantactic print... Perfect - the reflection in the water is especially splendid. I have nothing constructive to add because i seriously can't think of anything that would improve it. 10 out of 10! |

A Quiet Night in Times Squareby Brooklyn513Comment: An adjustment of brightness and contrast might have improved the blackness of the sky and would have lessened the effect of a slight over-exposure. It is also unfortunate that the two heads are present in the foreground - they are a little bit too distracting. A few more yellow cabs would have been touristically more pleasing... |

CiTyScApEby mariomelComment: From (painfull) experience, it appears that photos with a large percentage of sky for some reason often doesn't do well. Well, those voters are wrong darn it to heck - a good dramatic sky always works for me, and this is a case in point. The sky here is gorgeous. Unfortunately, it appears that something has gone a bit awry with some of the buildings away from the centre, which in turn gives the impression of a wonky shot. In certain post processing software this effect could be minimised a little by distorting the image (using free transform in PS). Still, it's certainly an attractive skyline. |

Reykjavik City Hall (built 1992)by tyrkinnComment: I would imagine you icelanders find it difficult to walk to the shops for a pint of milk without stumbling over something incredibly photogenic. I have always wanted to see and explore your strange and wonderful land, and DPChallenge just makes the longing worse. Anyway - I like this very much. I do think that a very slight reduction in brightness might have been worthwhile, and it might appear picky, but i might have cropped the last 10mm off the right. But aside from that, very little appears wrong with it, and i hope it does well! |

Milliken Woods, Hamilron,Oh city park adjoining residential areaby Crafty SueComment: You missed the longitude and latitude from your title ;) This is a very attractive picture - the only things i might've considered changing is the crop (lose some of the sky and the right third portion, thereby focusing a little more on the purple/pink blossom) and I might have been tempted to cloned out the human. Other than that, a very nice picture, and it would appear you are very lucky to live in such a pleasant environment. 7. |

Thunder Storm in Dallasby DefyTimeComment: Goodness - great timing here! I like this shot - pretty moody and pretty pretty too! Your choice of cropping might have been improved a little, methinks, such as cutting off the bottom from the base of the trees... And though I do like the big glowy ball thing, I think it diverts / competes for attention from the lightning ; chopping out the top of the tower would leave an awkward looking column but it might be worth it. dunno, would be an awkward call, that... The flow of the picture might be better if it were displayed in landscape, rather than portrait. I'd also be tempted to play with a bit of an increase in contrast in the sky - darkening the sky and making the lightning more prominent... I totally love the blackness of the office buildings though, and they very definitely add to the overall feel of the picture. 7. |

You've Got Mail!by Firstrich1Comment: There's something undeniably lovely about old fashioned mail boxes - is the one left in colour yours? The overall depth of field and focus on the coloured box to me looks totally spot on. This is certainly a viable hung on the wall picture, and no mistake. Well done you! 10. |

anticipationby grigrigirlComment: I think this is a true silhouette - well, I think it definitely fit's the challenge. Quite a beautiful and arresting shot - though i'm impressed that the bride allowed you to muck about getting arty farty shots (though it would make a lovely momento of the day - and i assume it was The Day for real, right?). Lighting is wonderfully great. The background is a little bit cluttered for my personal taste (perhaps it might work if the background was subtley blurred a little more?) but i still want to give this a 10 because it's just so good! well done you! |
