Branched and Boundby Cleon321Comment: What a busy picture. Seems lik there is some animal or something just above center. I wonder if it would have been possible to crop a bit off the bottom and get rid of that (?) stone wall?

Radiantby admart01Comment: Nice use of colours. A little too much light. This is a palm branch, but I must say that the picture is of leaves. Skirting the edges of the challenge definition here. |

EATING AT THE "Y"by medinfo2000Comment: Weird pic. I keep thinking I can see where the DOF is, but it's soft in weird places to my eyes. Great choice of subject and background. It always helps to have a green caterpillar walking on a red branch eating green leaves.
Too bad about the plastic bag (?) in the bottom of the pic. Not a 10, but it's quite good. |

Lying in the grass, next to the mausoleum.by sumpComment: Strange colour, maybe push the colour a bit more with hue and saturation to bring out the odd pinkness in the sky? Seems to work with the purple CA on the grass.
I'm afraid I can't say I like the picture much though, sorry. |

Submergedby InnaNComment: Yup, they are branches alright. If I may add some unskilled comments.
1. looks like the horizon is a little tilted. I suspect it is closer than it looks, but the line on the tree near center is making me feel that it's about two degrees too far clockwise. There is a tutorial for fixing that on this website.
The picture seems to lack a subject. I can't tell if you want me to look at the tall tree (which is off center and off thirds) or the branch sticking out of the water (which is on thirds - ish, but blanketed in darkness.
Landscape pictures are usually intended to have a lot in focus and it appears that this pic does not have good focus on much. I hit this with a contrast jump and an auto levels in PS. It helped a bit.
I wonder if it might have been possible to slide a bit more to the right and get the elements in the shot composed slightly differently. Maybe move downwards? Tough call, I don't know if you were on the shoreline or in a boat...

Heart of the Hibiscus (Branching Corolla)by SchuffComment: Great red! Too bad about the blown pistil. Even worse about the shadow from what I guess is the camera in the lower right corner.
Title brought the pic into the challenge theme. |

Antlersby SammieComment: This is a really good picture because of the colours, and the detail in the eye.
My only complaints are:
the pose (the head is down at such an angle as to create an awkward line on the neck to the forelegs. Also, the eye appears defocused and disinterested.
Slight overexposure and blowing of highlights on the antler tips.
Slight bit of a stretch to fit antlers into a branch challenge. Close enough though. I feel that when the visual link to the challenge, the title should be used to make up for it. Antlers are clearly antlers and not branches.
Otherwise, far better than I will ever do. Keep it up. I would guess that if you shot something this good, there's probably some that were better that were not available to be posted in such a public forum. |

The Branch Hotel . . . . available by the hour.by glad2badadComment: Heh. More explicit pictures... what would my mother say?
On second thoughts, I don't think I care. What would I say? WOW nice DOF! You have the texture of their bodies down so well, I can feel the smoothness just by looking at them. The colours rock too.
Stunning. 10. |
