Sleeping Sistersby nsharpComment: Originally posted by Bernard_Marx: Nice light, though I expect I would like a BW version even better. |
Now that you mention it, I feel silly for not thinking of it myself. I took this with my Casio EXP-700 by the florescent lights next to the bed. I couldn't get the white-balance right to save my life. I'll try it when I get a chance.
Thanks!

060816-3777b.jpgby nsharpComment: You are right about the focus problem. I actually chased this poor guy all over the yard with a stick taking lots of photos. At one point he got scared enough to poop (I've never actually watched a spider do that before). He made it safely away into the bushes after I was done, though. |

Sunningby nsharpComment: This was a lucky capture! I didn't even see him. My wife was the one who pointed the photo opportunity out to me. He is actually a baby, his shell was probably 3-4 inches across, which may explain his success walking on the pads. I'm just glad he didn't duck under before I got close enough to get this shot as he and my glass were both rather small :-) |

I do love my childby nsharpComment: Thank you everyone who commented, it helps a lot! I must say I'm a bit disappointed, but I guess that is the way of things. I personally still love this photo a lot, but I guess I'm biased. |

A World Wide Symbolby nsharpComment: Well, I have to say I'm disappointed, but not surprised. The picture does fail to really explain my point of view, and that is my fault (although I don't have the talent tools or money to really do it right). The picture idea comes from my (limited) travels in South America. "World-Wide" is perhaps too broad, "Third-World" is more like it. To a great number of people in this world, America is very much a symbol of power, affluence, and material wealth. The fact that yes, there are poor people in America really has nothing to do with that and doesn't detract from my statement.
To Willtorecord, I would say that to me it is interesting that a single symbol can have so many meanings, depending on your point of view. This is particularly true with this symbol, especially today as our tyrannical leaders twist the meaning of the flag for their own agenda. My hopes here were (in vain) to try and show the alternate point of view that a great portion of the rest of the world have.
Thanks to those who commented, it is greatly appreciated. I am still interested in technical/artistic comments, if anyone have them. |
