California Dreamin'by JutildaComment: The selective desaturation works well for this picture. The anonimity of the performer also adds to the "dreaming" nature of the shot. 8. |

Ms. Vocalist of Animal Alpha Bandby terjeComment: Two pics of the same performer. I prefer this one. Excellent composition and tonality. Fine detail. Even the shadowed hint at her breast adds to the "excitement" of the picture. OK, now that I look at it again, her dress is a tiny bit overblown, but still a great shot. Top 10. I give it a 9. |

Warming up Backstage by reemasComment: There were lots of "closeup of the instrument" pictures. I felt this was the best. The highlights of the metal are excellent, not too blown out (still some detail). The background helps add contrrast, but isn't totally black which would have made the picture feel less "live". I even like the wedding ring which mirrors the trumpet tone (but of course you didn't have much to do with that). A 9. |

Satyriconby DonAmonComment: Nothing says "heavy metal" like spikes, makeup, and flailing hair. Nice "live" feel. I like the lighting in the back, but it's a bummer the equipment is slightly distracting (especially that thing with the red cap. Were this advanced editing, you could have taken care of it, so I won't hold it against you...) 9. |

Ninety And Cookin'by lshlesComment: Of the "closeup of the performer's instrument" genre, I felt this was one of the best. It's slightly out of focus in the foreground, but I think the quality of the man's hands make up for it. The highlights on the clarinet(?) are done right too. 9. |

Serena Maneeshby turbulensComment: The flowing hair gives action and life to the picture. The tattoos are nice. It's too bad the blue light wasn't in a slightly different position, looks like it's growing out of her head. 9. |

Feeling Itby carlomuscatComment: Excellent composition. Like some other pics, a bit high on the contrast, but it works in the setting of rock. I gave it a 9. |

The bass player by geimdrengurComment: 10. The parallel between the spotlight and the bass guitar makes for excellent composition. The background is minimal. It is a bit over-contrasty, but I think that works in this setting. Rock music, after all, is about the dramatic. |

Airby Rusch24Comment: Great pic. I'll forgive the graininess because I'm sure it was dark when you shot it. The light as highlight is nearly perfectly placed (sometimes better lucky than good). I like the focus point being the mike, although some others might want it on his face. I give it a 10. |

RAWKby BobsterLobsterComment: I picked 5 10's, this is one of them. It is classic in the "rock" elements: the guitarist without a shirt, the raised instrument, the "devil horns" sign. I think this captures "live music" very well. The image is low-key, but that works in a rock setting. |
