Leading the Choirby crabappl3Comment: The expressionon her face really draws my attention. It's not the expression I would expect for a kids chior leader. It adds a lot of interest to the photo. The action seems to be in front of her, so I would have cropped this with more space in front of her and less behind. Good job of capturing her in action. You did a good job of not having the highlights get too hot on her white clothing, which is tough to do. Smellyfish1002 |

Hanging On by welcherComment: Great detail in this macro, and I like the separation from the background with the DOF setting. Good job. |

Minor Sunrise in a Major Keyby inspzilComment: This is a nice shot and reminds me of many winter sunsets from when I was growing up in Indiana (I left there when I was 18). I would have cropped more of the foreground out of this photo, or adjusted levels to send the foreground and the silohette of the tree to black. You have some jpg artifacts in the grayish area of the sky, but thats near impossible to get rid of. This tree would be interesting shot with the setting sun directly behind the tree as well. Lots of neat things going on here! Good Luck, JD |

Marina in Decemberby MorganComment: You have some interesting colors, shapes, repeating patterns, etc. This is a concept that works well, but it would be interesting to see it shot from a side angle as well. Although it would be against the rules for this site, I would like this shot better without the treetops on the horizon, and no branches on the left and right. Maybe cropping it down to the horizon would be an option. It would get rid of some distractions and zero in on the interesting components in the photo. I really like the way the red stands out from the bluish gray tones of the rest of the image! I know it would be though to do, but increased DOF to keep the handrails in focus would help, IMO. Nice shot, good effort braving the cold! JD |

Light of the Spiritby jmsetzlerComment: You did a very good job with a tough lighting situation. There is no way to do this without the front window being too hot. Your foreground lighting and details are very good. I also like the black and white format. Smellyfish1002 (JD Anderson) |

Harsh landsby NatashaComment: I like your concept of the tree sillohetted against the cloudy sky, but the buildings don't fit with the title of Harsh lands. Can you shoot this from an angle to exclude the buildings? I also like that you did this in BW! |

Christmas Time Is Hereby jenaromComment: The tones of red and orange in the ornament are amazing. Overall, I feel all of the white area is a little stark. A little more greenery may help (IMO). The loss of DOF in the greenery overlapping the ball is a little distracting. I think you have a great concept here, and your lighting of the ornament is perfect. I'd try a few more shots with different greenery. |

The Unknownby arnitComment: This is very simple, but I like it. I think it's the position of your eyes. If you had been looking straight forward, I don't believe this shot would have had the same appeal. Good job with the lighting. No hotspots! |

Abstract Martiniby AleciaComment: Very nice colors and composition. The only thing I would try to improve on are the white reflections at thte top of the stem. These are a little distracting. A very nice shot overall. Good job! |
