Winterby beekeeperComment: I love these types of scenes. Might actually have worked better if you were a little farther away (or much closer, I go back and forth). - 6 |

Stormy Walkby dafletchrComment: This is great - the silhouettes of the two figures in the distance really elevate this image. - 9 |

In Mother's Lap (He Remembers-challenge From Above)by SHALIGAComment: Interesting reinterpretation of your original shot. The deep contrasting black and white is very nice here, if a little harsh at the highlights on the face - but that could be my monitor.
I particularly like the way the light falls across the sculpture's shoulder and upper chest.
Unfortunately, because it is difficult to identify what Mary's head is in the photograph and because of the orientation of the composition, Mary's head at first impression looks like it might be the left arm. The composition generally gives the impression of movement, almost evoking a figure dancing, rather than the mournful, static nature of the original piece. |

Pensive Pug by ShutterPugComment: What a sweetie! Great expression, and I like the choice of the light and the pose not directly to the camera. He looks thoughtful, and yes, pensive.
I agree with the other commenters below and wish there was a either a little more depth of field or the focus had been solidly on the eyes, rather than the mouth. I think because the pug's head is not directly flat to camera - which works for the expression and pensive mood that you indicate you were going for - the more forward eyes is in focus, while the right eye is a little soft, especially at the back and along the bottom.
The only other nit I have is that the subject gets a little lost in the background on the right side of the photo. I am no expert with studio lighting, but a side light or back light might have worked to isolate the pug from the background here, where the tones of the fur and the tones of the wall are so similar.
