Caution : City Aheadby planetxComment: Because the rider is distant and dark, it is hard for the eye to immediately grasp his direction of travel, so the viewer must rely on the normal rules about flow of traffic for each side of the road (it took me a while to remember that different countries handle that differently). I wish that the image itself could have had some visual clues (other than the title) to help me anticipate the approaching impact of transition from rural to city. |

Hidden by Daylightby macleodnComment: The absence of interior lights and the invisibility of rooftops beyond the eves combine to make this look like a flat facade instead of an actual building, perhaps fitting for an image where the theme is artificial lighting that is hidden during the day. |

Courtyard of the Skyby jaysonmcComment: Looks like these plants don't get much winter light, making for a somber theme in the center despite the warm surrounding indoor lights. Also looks like a candidate site to practice HDR approaches (when not required to stick with basic editing). |

City of Cloudsby csl_click79Comment: Sometimes even the clouds above have clouds above them. I like the contrast of dark and light, but I would expect many DPC voters to award low scores for depending on the title to connect with the challenge topic. |

The Towerby gepallComment: Keeping the rocky foreground prominent gives us a glimpse of what a fallen soldier might have seen while trying to attack the tower. Looks pretty isolated now, making me wonder what used to be there to defend. |

Peculiar Discoveryby JasComment: Nice use of focal light for dramatic impact. Expecting an urban theme, I first got itchy imagining this fellow crawling through fiberglass insulation. On revisiting the image, it looks like a tunnel through snow/ice. The ambiguity adds interest. |

Drive-by Blindnessby levyj413Comment: Cars in motion can generate some interesting effects. The wheels looking like woven baskets is one I haven't seen before and is fun. I'll bet this would score better if the background had more urban elements. |

Firefighter's Tributeby fuzzytComment: I am glad you preserved detail of the firefighter's coat despite the relatively bright sky. An outline figure might have been easier and more iconic, but would not communicate the sadness nearly as well. |

Where are the People?by scotthadlComment: Your title makes a good point: people make up a city, perhaps even more than the buildings do, so this fits the challenge in an unexpected way and provokes some thought. |

Santoriniby garrethtComment: Selecting a vantage point that makes the rooftops into a series of stair steps against the clear blue sky makes this different from many other pictures of the city. |
