New Shoesby dainmcgowanComment: Great idea, and I like the clouds in the background.
I'd have liked to have been able to see the horse's head/face and also all of the hind feet - I feel that where they are cut off/cropped is awkward. Having the head/neck with similar lighting to the rest of the image might have helped.
OR, based on the title, shot/cropped in MUCH closer on the hoof being worked so the emphasis is consistant with the title.
I am finding that my eye drifts, trying to find the focal point of the image - I'm drawn to each of the white socks |

A Horse of Few Colorsby alanfreedComment: Nice subject. I like that you shot him from below his level.
I find myself wishing that the white portions of the subject's coat didn't have a color cast to it, and also that the tree trunk wasn't "growing" out of it's back and into the jaw.
I think that had there been a bit more light on the near side of the face and a catch light in the eye, it might have helped to bring a point of focus to the image. |

Arabian Stallionby sfmorrisComment: Nice portrait, beautiful subject. Good angle to show the profile, width between the eyes (both characteristics of this breed of horse). Love that you caught the "catch light" in the eye.
Something about the lower lip bothers me; I'm left wondering if the horse was in the process of licking, or if it may have a slight underbite? |

ThePaintedHorse: EquusGrevyby jessy_pesceComment: Nice image.
While I like the detail in the lashes, I find myself wanting the eye itself more in focus. The eye seems kind of "sleepy" for lack of a better word - for myself, I'd like to see a more alert "expression". The eye gets lost in the other detail, for me. Message edited by author 2008-09-01 05:41:36. |

Unfetteredby lynnesiteComment: Gorgeous image that IMO is much, much better than it finished here.
Beautiful color/light, nice DOF, tack sharp, and dramatic. Nice capture all the way around. Conveys the playful "snort and blow" "Look at ME" expression, to me.
I'd love to have had an image like this of my own stallion. Message edited by author 2008-09-01 05:16:54. |
