Red Back Beerby NodeComment: A nice idea, but your fore-lighting completely cancels out most of your backlighting. |

Looking throughby JinjitComment: I gave it an 8, but at the time I just couldn't find anything to say about it really. This is a shot that I just seem to "like", you know?

18by eptasdiComment: Nice job with getting the backlighting right. The desaturation does help sell the light source for me, but there's something just a little to plain about the overall composition. Perhaps had you taken it with the player in an element of the game, it would have given the shot a little more life. |

Blow meby alithenakeComment: Perhaps just a little blown out in the background I think. Playing with aperature/shutter settings on shots like this is essential. It's a wonderful POV though! |

and the sun comes down....by arbil14Comment: I like what you were trying to do here. The focus seems just a bit too soft to me, which gives the white light in the center more power than it otherwise should have. Cropping on the sides could have been a touch tighter, but this is an excellent example of backlighting. |

Sawtooth Sunflowerby JeileenComment: The backlighting is visible, but a little to weak I think.. only the top part of the flower is really showing it, and your front lighting has overpowered it mostly. A stronger source was needed for the back in order to make this a truly effective shot. Or perhaps another back source to get more of the bottom half. Even if you were going for the effect of just having the top of the flower backlit, I think a stronger source of light would have helped. It's just too soft for me. |

Light and Fruityby LisaCanComment: Nice setup. The light greens complement the fabric. I feel the lighting is just a little strong though, you might want to close the aperature down do deal with the burnout. Focusing is a little soft, but that could be because of the heavy light. It's a very nice attempt, and keep practicing! |

"Light" Beerby md8speedComment: A nice crop. The off-center positioning helps keep it a little unique, yet you've managed to keep the negative space to a minimum. The border actually does add to this picture (and borders on really black/dark or bright/white background photos are a good idea usually). You've lit it very nicely, and have great clarity. I'd play around with the focus a little more. Overall, a great shot, but I feel a certain flatness in the feel. Perhaps a prop of some sort (Darts, a coaster, some kind of pub element) at the side of the cup would have given this photo a touch more life?

Lite Brightby cpurserComment: Very clever! A few suggestions. A slightly better placement of the chair, in order to eliminate the clutter around the child's head and back would have been helpful to the composition, and a slight adjustment to the angle of your camera would have straightened out the position better. I would also liked to have seen a POV giving us a better look at the child's face, but that's really just personal preference.
The shadows from the lite-brite give and excellent feel to the shot, and the chair is a nice balance to the child. Great idea :) |

Shirtby ximendingComment: Your backlight source is far too strong in my opinion, and washes out the subject instead of lighiting it like I think you were going for. Experiment with closing the aperature and using slightly faster shutter speeds, and you'll probably achieve a much nicer effect. |
