Hi,
just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if so, might know what the solution is...
Basically, my camera will not switch on. The battery is fully charged. It was working perfectly, didn't take any knocks, didn't get wet and didn't do anything that a camera shouldn't do. But for some reason, it just will not switch on.
It could be the battery pack - I hope it is!!! Planning to bring it to a store tomorrow and get them to try a different pack to see. Still if this has happened before, I'm sure someone on this forrum will know about it.
Thanks in advance!

This happened to me just a short time ago when my lens had become slightly loose after I had changed the battery. I just had to snap the lens fully into place and the camera turned on. |

Have you tried cleaning the contacts both in the camera and on the battery? Rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs will work.

I had this problem on my 10D...I think it was a battery grip problem. Hasn't happened since..I took out the batteries from the grip, detached the grip. Then put it all back together. Worked fine. |

Guess what.... its working again!!!!
I changed the cards a few times... changed the lense and then back again... and then, it worked!!! So I took a few shots and used the flash a bit, turned it off and then on a few times before the battery icon flashed to indicate it was flat.... which was strange as I charged it fully last night.
So... it was either the card issue you guys mentioned, or it is the battery (which is charging again now so I'll test it again shortly) - neither of which is too big of a deal so I'm somewhat relieved!!
Thanks for the help,

You still can't necessarily rule out the camera. If the battery was truly charged, and it discharged within a day, there may be something drawing current that shouldn't be. You'll know that's the problem if a new battery does the same thing.

Yes I also have had this problem, and all it turned out to be was the battery cover. When you close it, it seems to have closed properly but if you give it an extra push it clicks into place securely.Hope your problem is as simple as that. |
