Just three refresh's and my numbers changed from 5.08 to 5.43 to 5.20. Not a very good start but atleast is not heading south. But seems like its going to be bumpy ride :)

I meant that as far as the scale is presented. Looking at the scale, DPC has the word BAD by 1 and Good by 10 - so in the middle (5) would be average. I really dont think people are considering this when they vote, and thus give out lower scores than a photo deserves. I look at a 5 as being no better than the average amatuer could take, and a 1 being what some shmuck who rarely picks up a camera would take. |
Don't take it too harshly - there are some trolls that SC cant get rid of, some people that vote 1 out of sour grapes because they arent doing too well, there are some people that will vote you down because purely because they dont like dogs (i get that when i photograph my snakes) and then there are absolute nutjobs like Chit thrown in to make DPC fun. Even the ribbons get ones, you learn to just not look at them \:) |
I'm sure some voters give a 1=bad entry for this challenge rather than 1=bad photo
This may be a legitimate way of voting!

Scoring lower than I thought. I thought I had a decent one. Getting tired of the voting pattern of lots of people on this site. Not worth the time and effort I invest. I'm having much more fun with Picture-a-Day project. I find it much more creatively stimulating and I'm getting better feedback there too. So I'm going to concentrate on that I think. Not bitter, just disapointed a bit. DPC and me haven't been agreeing much lately. My style used to fit in before, but I find that it's not fitting so well anymore as I'm progressing (or regressing, depending on how you look at it) as an amateur photographer. Need to start shooting for myself first and damn the torpedoes. I'll submit if I feel stuff acn fir in. Good luck with that score.

I admit it -- I did a quicky just to get it in there.
As a side note: Seems that people have been a bit picky about titles .. can't mention it here :] ...
but why does everyone "know" everything? ... I mean ... "Hey, your title sucks, you're wrong, you're stupid, I would have done this, maybe you should have just shot yourself in the head!" ...
Oh man this stuff is fun!

OK - venting ... but why are people hiding their ID when leaving wierd, picky, questionable feedback. If someone says "Hey - isn't your title wrong and stupid?" ... why can't I retort and say -- "you're a jack#ss because you're misinterptetting and judging under pretense!"?

OK - so since I believe bag-headedness to be the inherant evil with this site and the internet in general ...
how does one act as a bag-head ? ... not signing in? (I don't seem to have that option here) ...
I probably sound like a plastic-bag helium-head but I'm just wondering how one applies a bag to one's head!

I'm not a bag head but I can see their point. Who wants to listen to the endless dribble coming back in PMs from offended entries. I have gotten my share of mean, useless, over the top comments, but hey not everyone has the same option, so what. I think instead of the bag head option there should be a "I'm to sensitive for you to bag on my photo" check box that won't allow users to receive any comments.
OK done with that.
Check in your preferences, you will find the "hide my name" under voting preferences check box.

| This is my second challenge. During my first challenge, I commented as a so-called bag-head. I didn't realize that the bag-head was a default setting when setting up my account. Maybe the default setting is the reason behind some, not all, of the hidden comments. |
