Too funny !
I'm a Radiation Protection Technician too, and come from a very "nuclear" family! Have spent the last 20 years being a "road tech" at nuclear power plants on the east coast and in the southeast. Semi-retired at the moment, going to school, doing artwork, playing with photography, and letting my husband support me. First time in 35 years that I haven't "worked", and kind of enjoy it.

Legal word processor with a 2:30p-10:30pm schedule. Pretty mundane, I suppose. But it pays the bills and gives me time to play during the daylight hours.

I calculate, prepare the projects, store and give out all materials, am in charge of safety, make sure all computers/printers/network/camera's/special hardware work and keep working, build the website, inspect constructions and photograph them, work on the building site, in charge of maintenance of all tools and cars, give financial advise, serve the tea, wash the windows, scrub the floor, feed the dogs and polish the boss's shoes etc at a small family company that is supposed to make sure that roofs don't leak. :)
We work with materials from Hobone/Hoesch, all kind of German and French natural slates, Eternit, Rockwool, Derbigum, Phoenix, Firestone, Esha, Vapotherm, Kingspan, Alcoa, etc. But we don't do tiles.

I studied for Auditor and am 30 pages (that I will never finish) away from a Masters degree in that. I enjoy the above more and it gives me a lot of freedom and time to do other things than work and study and sleep.
I was a kind of sleeping student for three years before I made that decision. In the mean time I did some study at other faculties like "City history of New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angelos from the 1600's to 1939". I like to have a broad knowledge, I hate specialism.

Also worked for the most creditworthy bank in the whole world (tripple A).

I do all this to save some money for a Nikon or Fuji body and the new Nikkor AF-S 24-100 and 70-200 VR G ED lenses. ;) And a house and a new motorcycle and did I mention I need to buy some new cloths after not buying anything in three years. There are holes in everything, poor ex-student cries out for help. Large donations can be payed to my Paypal account!

Sounds like another way to compromise privacy in favor of profits...but that's just an educated guess.

I'm an ex-massage therapist and massage therapy teacher up here in the Great White North. I'm now the Assistant Director of a Massage Therapy School. Maybe Jacko knows of it since we have a campus in Fredericton, NB. :-)

I miss both the practice and teaching but running a school is quite the challenge! I enjoy it as well.

I do tier 2 technical support for a large ISP here in Canada when I'm not pondering the latest lottery prize and figuring out what I'd do with the winnings. :)

I am also a student, and I work at the Community College. I'm officially a writing tutor, but the people I help are the adults who have been out of school for a long time. They do almost all the remedial work on the computer.

Today I spent more time than one should trying to teach someone to double click. It just didn't work out. Eventually I told her to just click on the icon and hit enter.

Idonno, I guess since I grew up with computers (I remember seeing my first colour moniter), it's just not that hard for me.

I'm a quasi-geek I suppose.

I work in pre-press at a small-medium sized commercial printer...mostly figuring out how to get customer files to print to film/plate with fonts and graphics intact. Also involves scanning, imposition, and some layout/graphic design work...been doing that since 1980 -- first in the darkroom, now on Macs (90%) and PCs (10%)...keep the computers and network running, backup files, etc.

I also work as a PA (Physician Assistant) at a drug-treatment program, evaluating incoming clients and helping them find other medical and dental care as needed...been doing that since 1986. Before that I had a few years experience as a medical and crisis intervention volunteer at the Berkeley Free Clinic.

On the side I do some freelance graphic design, including a few books (one a chiropractic text with over 200 photos) and some sound/music recording. I used to sort-of be in a band, but all the other members moved away and nothing new has materialized...

Most importantly, I'm also the half-time single dad of Isaac, one of our youngest members, and who is 6 years old TODAY.

Happy Birthday Isaac!

I work with an artist doing digital images for his paintings.

I also am working on a collection of "hometown" photographs for a local gallery.

Beyond that I do full figure and mother son modeling from time to time, but my real job is being MOM!

I am not sure what you mean, but HIPAA is government mandated, Privacy, Electronic Data transmission and Security rules or otherwise known as the Health Insurance Privacy and Accountability Act.

Its intent is to make patient medical records more private and secure.

My fun/side job is photography. I've been doing it on the side for a year now. So it has all been loses to buy equipment. But i've done 2 weddings, alot of assignments for local papers (sports, small events) and assist some pro wedding photographers. You know, even though we had a challenge on occupations this has been a really cool thread. It's neat finding out what other people do for a living. BTW, if there's anyone in the Hampton Roads or Richmond Virginia area looking for a young responsible employee around May just drop me a line;)

I'm currently a student, but not for long. I'm graduating as a mechanical engineerin in 2 months. I've been doing small contracts to design some heavy machinery for a local machine shop, and i might have a full-time job with them by the time i graduate as they're expanding their Design department.

Other than that i do live online technical support for //www.splutterfish.com (basically answer questions on a chat-like interface to their clients at night when i'm home :) ) This company developped a 3d renderer that plugs into 3dsmax (some of you might know of this, it's called Brazil r/s). I also do some beta testing for their other products.

I also designed concepts for //www.spaceislandgroup.com (images, videos, etc) that they can then use to intice investors. Of all the non-governmental companies wishing to go to space, this is the only one that actually has approval from NASA, and therefor makes me think it's the only one that could accually succeed, but i'm sorta biased :). Then again, the future of space travel is rather unknown at this point because of the recent accident, but i'm hopefull it takes off and i can become a design engineer for them.

As a hobby, all during my university days, i've done 3d graphics, which ties directly with that renderer, as i use it primarily to generate all my 3d images. I've only started photograpghy at christmas, but boy am i loving it. On my site you can see my 3d gallery, and my photographic gallery :)
