I'm guessing some of you have already figured this out, but there are a lot of "big guns" that won't be able to participate in this challenge. It's tough for the consistent winners to keep up with all the extra comments they get.

So, what am I saying ... for those that can enter this challenge, this is as good an opportunuity to enter a challenge as any!!!!

Does everyone who has made more comments than they have received automatically see a submission form for this challenge ? Even though I have done, all I see is a message about needing to be a Member in order to enter the challenge.

It's a 48 hour MEMBER challenge...for members who meet the additional requirements (more votes cast than received)

SaWeeet! Now I just have to find the time to shoot.

Just watch the comments you're getting in Negative... got a few going there if I recall. And as one of the "big guns", you're in this one because you do the after challenge "I'll comment on the 4.7-5.3" thing, which is very much appreciated - thanks!

(And yeah, Bear should get credz for all his in-thread comments, but there's not a good way to track that, I suppose.)

Errr, right. That's what I meant.
I just got done voting for two current challenges...'voting' must've been on my brain! :)

Thanks for the correction...

Mine, too.
I'm only 200 short...says sarcastically and rolls eyes. (Some are my own, though. Gotta stop doing that!)

Good luck to all you wonderful commenters!!

Commenting on your own entry counts as both a comment made AND received, so it's a wash. It doesn't hurt you for this challenge.

hmmm nice to receive and make comments because of this challenge (at least, that's what I think ;))

make those comments helpful, not like: "nice idea" or "great" or something like that, because, in my opinion, that could not be the intention of this challenge :)

That is correct, thus the "quality comments" note. Obvious cut/paste comments left in an effort to qualify for this challenge will be removed. The same will apply to photographers who leave a large number of comments that show no effort to evaluate the photograph. Entries from photographers who qualify in this way will be removed from the challenge as well. This does not mean that all "nice photo" comments will be removed, but anyone who exhibits a pattern of such comments will have their comments removed.

Should you receive any questionable comments, please use the "report post" feature on the comment in question, and we will investigate it.

I really like her profile photo...and it's WAY better than yours, Leroy. :)

Edit: forgot the smiley.

I second this. I've already received two comments that I suspect are a direct result of this contest...

Yep, noticing more comments on current challenge entries.

By the way, I have plenty extra comments made - can we sell them for votes? (Just kidding!)

It's funny; I've averaged about 6 comments/day since I joined the site, and I always used to have a positive comments ratio, but as I said before that 180+ comments on my blue ribboner blew that ratio to hell and gone. So y'all may as well buy some extra chops by commenting on THAT one and maybe we can drive it up to "most commented image on DPC" LOL.

Seriously, the really funny thing is a significant percentage of my comments given are of the "praise" variety, handed out to high finishers in the challenges after the results are posted; pleasant to receive, I'm sure, but not especially "helpful". Meanwhile, of course, I (and many others like me as well) work my fanny off in the forums commenting at length on other peoples' work and even taking the time to download it and illustrate photoshop techniques for the shooter, and none of this is measurable or "officially" acknowledged.

There's nothing to be done about it, though; I'd prefer to spend my time as I have been spending it, concentrating on fewer images in greater depth. And I understand there's no way to measure this, so...

Just let me know when they have a special challenge for those who talk the most; I'll be up for that one :-)
