I found lots of lovely zen pictures. Interesting how we all see things differently. |

Same here. I voted today expecting alot of bad shots and was surprised to find that this was a challenge that I rated more pics higher than in recent past. Maybe I am just being more generous but I liked alot of the shots. |

Zen came to Japan brought by Chinese priests. Chinese are not very religious people. They are rather very supersticious people. Initialy there was no real religion in Ancient China and Buddhism filled that gap. It was also strongly influenced by the Chinese philosophical schools like Daoism and Confucianism. Actually they become religions after China imported the buddhism.
There is one of my favourite Dao stories that also reflect what I think Zen is also about. And suits perfect to the way we differently perceive this challenge. Hope you anjoy
"What Fish Enjoy"
Zhuangzi and Huizi were strolling along the dam of the Hao Waterfall when Zhuangzi said, "See how the minnows come out and dart around where they please! That's what fish really enjoy!"
Huizi said, "You're not a fish ΓΆ€” how do you know what fish enjoy?"
Zhuangzi said, "You're not I, so how do you know I don't know what fish enjoy?"
Huizi said, "I'm not you, so I certainly don't know what you know. On the other hand, you're certainly not a fish ΓΆ€” so that still proves you don't know what fish enjoy!"
Zhuangzi said, "Let's go back to your original question, please. You asked me how I know what fish enjoy ΓΆ€” so you already knew I knew it when you asked the question. I know it by standing here beside the Hao."
Zhuangzi Autumn Floods section XVII, translated Burton Watson

Looks like the top 3 are going to be very outstanding photos and the next 20 maybe very close in voting scores between 5.5 and 6. It will be interesting to see the types of photos that we as voters picked as being "Zen"
