Congrats and a huge thanks to all the new SC members AND to those who volunteered for the job. I really do appreciate all you do to make this one of the best, OK, THE best place to visit in InternetLand. Good luck and keep perspective! (mk, you're a glutton for punishment...)

Big congrats guys! An awesome looking group. And welcome back MK. Did you just get sick of usually being the quickest to answer forum questions anyway and figured you might as well get paid for it? :-P

Thanks in advance for all you do/will do! Can't wait til sunday, then we can all start making your lives miserable!!! :-P

........hey, does this mean MK is in charge of the floggings again????

SC don't get paid.

And I would also like to see an Aussie in the mix down the track.. They have the spunk and attitude for it...I agree Amy.

Congrats? Really congrats? They are going to work a lot, not to be paid, we are gonna make their lives as difficult as we can... and you still say to them congrats? LOL. Just joking (or not).

You'll do a great job, as the ones who are now at SC are doing. And agree Langdon (who dares not to agree, by the way) that you'll do DPC the better photography place on the web.

I know they don't :-) That's part of the joke ;-)

And we all know that if it were a paid position, we'd never get people like this with the amount of dedication and willingness to do all they do.

No Icelanders either ;)

Looks like quite a team! Congratulations!

How many and who are the SC before? Are these only additional or have some stepped down? Just curious, since there doesn't seem to be any real elections or democratic rules in place (not whining btw, just curious)

It would be awesome to get more European representation on SC, same with the Far East (including Australia). If you didn't make it this time through, the key is to keep working towards building a positive community.

I'm sure that some of these applicants have applied several times before. The key has been they didn't quit doing things to make DPC a great place. Site Council isn't about popularity. It's about building a strong team of dedicated individuals who pull together for the good of the site.

Being the current "cool kid" isn't going to get you onto SC. You need to demonstrate that you have a long term dedication to helping others, making the environment positive, and learning to work as part of a team. It's not about being seen, it's about your end result. So the challenge to those who applied for SC and didn't make it- work every day like you are on SC. Help others, be a positive roll model, be part of the solution. Actions will always speak louder than words.

So act like the Site Council member you want to be. If we all did that, this would be an incredible community.

:)

Congrats and welcome to the new SC members! It was tough work selecting so few from such a large number of excellent candidates, but I feel we've made good choices with all 5 of you :o)

That is the list at the top of the Photographer Profiles search page and it's a good way to see SC (they're the ones with the special avatars). The newest 5, however, don't currently show there, but they will soon.

I get embarassed for Langdon whenever I see his profile piture. Maybe somebody should find some gentle way to give him a hint to change it?
