I won't say I was robbed, but this one was a
personal hit due it being nearly impossible
to do with a 2-second exposure: (try it)
5.0446 ¤ 146th of 192 ¤ 24%
And this one, well, because I love it
in an impressionistic sort of way:
4.2069 ¤ 255th of 294 ¤ 13%

yes, thank you so much for it!! :) I got my own now too, I used it on my "Mark" series of photos. I combined a picture of my seiling at home and a special norwegian "flat brød", thin bread :))) it worked pretty good! you never know where you can find great textures... |

i thought this one of mine was robbed. either people really didn't like it, didn't look at it, or couldn't understand how it fit the challenge. i wouldn't have expected it to win. but think it suffere from DMNC when it did fit the challenge./

Here is one of mine that I felt made a pretty profound statement but scored lower than I expected... I was hoping for a high 5 or low 6 but ended up with a low 5... Go figure.

I thought that the idea was pretty good and fairly well executed. Strangely I didn't vote on it though I don't know why. (Obviously its memorable enough).

The fact that I am interested to know if he raised the $280 says a lot. I love it an agree with you. You was robbed! |
thanks surfinbird. :) |
I myself gave out a 7 for this particular image. I thought it was quite striking though a little depressing.

This one just comes off really flat to me. The lighting doesn't do anything and the matte black fabric makes the whole thing look like a property documentation shot. Now, if you had actually taken it in a tree it would hold a lot more emotion, as well as background. |

This is one of my favorites but it was one of mu roughest in voting, spent a day or two free falling to 4.2 and then climbed again but it didn't quite make it back to 6. The comments are confusing it seems some people didn't like it because it didn't look real but it was a fake dolphin on top of a fence...I'm still confused by the reactions.
Maybe I should have gone with the outtake.

I think the outtake is orders of magnitude more convincing than the actual entry. Don't you hate it when you make a bad decision?

Funny how some photographs reach in grab hold of your soul, and when asked why, the best way to explain it is:
"Just because" |
Thanks... that means a lot to me.

I feel kind of weird answering this coz I haven't entered for such a long time and not that many times overall but...
This is the only picture I thought would do better.
I can't say I feel robbed, exactly. It placed where people decided it should place.
But I did think it would do better.

Originally posted by Elvis_L: without a doubt this one in the motion blur challenge. it got hammered by DNMC but it clearly did meet the challenge
BTW here is the challenge description
Intentional motion blur is an effect that can be achieved by zooming on a stationary subject, panning a moving subject, using long exposure, etc. Search for subjects that will be enhanced by this treatment.
I bolded the importqant part. |
You may be correct in that motion blur can be created by zooming during exposure, but if that's what you were going for in this shot, It didn't work. I just don't see any real "Motion blur" here. The shape created by the zoom, just doesn't achieve that effect here.

so because i made a shape with my blur it all of the sudden is not blur. I'm sorry that is BS. it may be different and it may not be a good photo but the lines connecting the circles are zoom blur. |

I had high hopes for this shot., I took over 1000.00 shots trying to get the board clear but the thingie(not sure what its called, sorry) moving. as well as no glare from the lights on the board. etc.. but, c'est la vie! |

I would say because the motion blur wasn't immediately apparent it might have been voted down because of that. I would say that were it not too late it would be an OOBIE candidate. Its a good shot and well done but because the voters weren't hit over the head they didn't vote it high based on how it fit the challenge.
