The shot itself ain't bad IMO. I would have preferred to see the hands, but really it's the post-processing conversion that killed your score. Judging from the color version in your portfolio, you had a lot of image to work with, but lost much of the detail and contrast when you converted it. Compare your entry to this version:

I feel the worst about this one. Maybe I was just too close to this image, but I truly LOVED this photo and was crushed that others did not feel the same way.

Some of us did, and still love it Barbara - that is an amazing photograph!
There's more life in that shot than 50 landscapes put together, and still consider it one of DPC's best.

That's always been in my all-time-DPC favorites.
Here's my "robbed" shot. I know motion created abstracts are not popular here, but this was in an abstract challenge, after all.
57 out of 208, 5.68. I do think if I had gotten a validated sticker on it early, it might have done better.

This was for the "Simple Pleasure" challenge. I wasn't really too upset about the score on this one (I don't take the sort of photos people here like) but I was really surprised by how many responses I got by people who didn't know what the "simple pleasure" was. Maybe its a geographical thing, but I figured that swinging on a swingset is about as simple and pure a pleasure as most people experience.

I am most upset about this one. I thought the concept of humanities struggle for immortality against the tidal forces of reality as portrayed by a rubber duck was quite evident in my photo but alas the voters didn't get it.

I so missed that. I thought it was about the environment & the relationship between humans & other species. |

'Robbed' is too strong a term for me, but I can say that I expected this to score a good .6+ pts higher. But, then again, it was in a Free Study. Oh well, it still looks great (to me) printed 8x12. :)

I felt I got slightly stung with a score of less than 5 - Thought that was a little harsh as I thought this pic of Tony Curtis might do a little better.

I feel your pain. I was one of your six 10-givers on this one. I thought, and still think, it's one of the really finer images in the DPC pantheon. It still makes me smile to look at it.

This was a shot that I thought would do much better than it did. I actually got my 17 year old son to allow me to glue buttons all over his face! |

This is one of my favorite images, and while i know it's grainy, i thought people could get past that to see the photo itself. oh well :) |
