Raish, I've been meaning to tell you that you get the OOBIE award for all time with that "Larva Lamp" photo. My God, man, that was beyond weird. And yet, strangely compelling! |

Can any of you "suckers" help me out here
I'm having camera troubles, and my hubby is slightly amenable to be purchasing an upgraded camera when we get our tax refund. My last post has the local options and current prices.

kashi I really love my Canon EOS 20D. You might be able to pick one up with a lens for around the same price as the Rebel, and I'm pretty sure the 20D is a step up. (Now I'm salivating over the 5D, if only money grew on trees, LOL!) Anyway, I've had a lot of SLR non-digital cameras, but only the Canon digital. I'd recommend going to the store and seeing how they feel to you. That's how I ended up going with Canon over Nikon ultimately. |

after recieving Catherine's PM, i've looked back at my post and realized that perhaps i should elaborate.
it was posted hastily while i was feeling really badly last night and on my way to a bar.
i'm going to post an explanation on the team suck forum.
chris.

Not a great score, but cool to get a favorite and a wish list!
The only thing I will be in this week is the Free Study. Hope to have something in Furniture and Red.

I think a wish list is when someone wants to buy your photo? Never gotten one, myself, so I'm not sure :-) Congrats, Chaimelle, can't wait to see the photo!
Has anyone else noticed an unusual trend in Low Key? I think there were some early troll voters. Mine started at 5.1 with 20-odd votes and has climbed all the way to 5.7 with 77 votes. Hopefully it won't reverse... |

I haven't checked my score and probably won't, but I haven't received any comments for "Low Key" yet. I don't know if that's good or bad. |

I've only gotten one comment, but mine is a pretty predictible entry, as it was my first time to try low key, so I didn't want to try too much. I'm cool with it hanging out around 5.7. Actually pretty happy, as it involved a flashlight, self-timer and a lot of guesswork... |

Greetings from Disney World!
Catherine, we left about 30 minutes after you posted on Sunday to ask when we were leaving. :)
I've been asked to validate my Hate entry (thanks for the great comments, team suckers!), which I LOVE. It means I figured out a way to edit that seems cool or unusual. It's legal, of course. Since I'm out of town, the SC is letting me send in my original when we get back on Sunday.
In case anyone's interested in how much color adjustment you can do in Basic editing rules, here's an undedited and edited version of the other composition I considered entering. I submitted the same edits to this to the SC before voting began and was told it was fine. Because I had a blue heart, green background, and reddish hand, I was able to isolate the three items using hue/saturation layers even without layer masks or selections, and then adjust hue, sat, and lightness for each independent of the others.
Brookied, congrats on that terrific street shot and the ribbon!
We've had one great day at the Magic Kingdom (12 hours of it!) and today was a little tougher at Epcot - it's not as easy there to mix the interests of two adults, a 9-year-old, and a 6-year-old. But tomorrow at Animal Kingdom should be better.
I've gotten some fun shots of fireworks (we can watch them from our hotel room balcony on the 12th floor of the Contemporary Resort!) and Cinderella's castle. I also have some wonderful memory-capturing snapshots - gotta remember to take those and not always look for DPC-type shots. One is a great shot of Amelia (our 6-year-old) grinning hugely on a spinning ride while the background whirls blurrily behind her. I look forward to sharing when we get back.
Catherine, I hope to get some interesting wild animal shots tomorrow! Would rhino penis or horn qualify as "alternative medicine" when they're still mounted on their owner? ;)

I'm back! I have almost recovered from jury duty. I was released as one of the alternate jurors before deliberation began -- thank goodness. I can now tell you that it was a civil case where a man was being sued for the wrongful death of a 16-year-old boy. It is a very high profile case here, and the lawyer for the plaintiffs, the boy's parents, was the lead lawyer for Florida in the tobacco suit. He won that case, and his fee was $940 million.
The jury has been deliberating for three days and still hasn't reached a verdict. It seemed pretty clear to me that the man shot the boy in self-defense, but it was a tragedy all the way around. A lot of bad decisions were made by the boy and the man, and the boy wound up dead, his parents' are crushed, and the shooter's life is ruined. And it was all as a result of a childish prank.
I haven't participated in many challenges lately (and the ones I did enter scored very badly: 4.1, 4.3, 4.8. My Tree entry is at 4.1 right now -- probably because of DNMC votes. (Maybe it will qualify for an OOBIE.) I have an entry in Free Study, and I'll try to get something for Red.

Hi Guys
i have created a new Blog while trying to move away from blogger/blogspot.
Click here for a look and let me know your thoughts and comments.
I know there is work to do on the posts as the thumbnail are too large after the blogger import so i have set up FLICKR albums linked into the blog on a seperate page linked through the blog/post.
Thanks

I'm not in FS this month. It's awful to realize you haven't taken any pictures other than challenge pictures in a whole month...
