You know, one of the highlights of challenges for me these days is waiting for Mary to post the thumbs of the Team Suck entries. It is always truly a delight to see what Team Suck creates. I'll try to get comments to all later today, time permitting, but there are some gems there. Again!

this is absolutely stunning, I wish I had taken this:)
where can we make the new nominations for oobie?:)

yes Deb, it's really amazing and very inspiring to look at what fellow suckers create.

I agree with silverfoxx about Alan's photo. It is gorgeous, highly underrated!

Edit to add: Will probably jinx myself, but have to post before it goes away - my score in Red is up to 6.57! I may get a PB if it keeps climbing!

You missed my Low Key entry, Mary. This is it.

I think I have managed to pull myself up out of the basement with the two current entries, Free Study and Red, which are current both at 5.4.

I have been so busy with jury duty and house guests, that I didn't even have time to vote in Low Key, Ice, and Acronyms. I'm enjoying the Team Suck entries, and am trying to comment on each of them.

I prepared an entry for Low Key, but didn't get it posted in time for the deadline. I'm not even sure it's low key. Perhaps you would be so kind as to give me a few opinions.

A lot of the recently posted shots caught my eye - Alan's is one of them. The other two, right off the bat, were skewsme's:

and quiet_observation's:

I have a very "Silverfoxx-esque" idea for circles. Unfortunately, it involves setting up my tripod and camera in the 'hood. If I can get the hubby (or a professional bouncer, LOL) to accompany me, I'll give it a go.

Would someone look at the Low-Key Thumbnails for Team Hoover and confirm that you see 3 pictures - one for Melethia, Formerlee and Greetmir?

I edited the post to include Greetmir's photo and then when I came back to check the post - the thumbnail had disappeared.

Maybe I really am in the Twilight Zone.

Mary, all three are showing up on my computer. BTW - were you able to receive all of my interview answers? When I sent via PM, looked like part of it may have gotten cut off?
03/07/2007 11:10:12 AM · #1562
I see all three as well.

Thanks, yes I glanced through the email this morning and it looks good. The answers look complete. I should have it posted by this weekend.

Thanks for all for responding to this fun project. Also as we go through the interviews, feel free anyone, to suggest other questions.

We will need to come up with a "special" set of interview questions for posthumous, our FL. So if you think of anything that you having been "just dying" to ask him, PM me.

Alan, how did you take this? Was the light behind those people, and the fog or mist between you and them, so we're actually looking at the "back" of the shadows?

I recently went through some poems I wrote in college, and this one struck me as appropriate to our ongoing collective efforts to improve our photography. It reminded me there is no one destination, nor does anyone have all of the answers.

I know it's not exactly a world-shaking thought, nor is it award-winning poetry, but I thought I'd share it in case anyone might enjoy it.

The End (written in May 1988)
My last class - what a thought!
For four short years I've fought
to gain an education.

One more hour, then I'm through.
Everything I've learned to do
must last me all my life.

So many times and places,
lectures, labs, and faces
will be just memories.

How strange - I'll be a grad!
'Till now I thought they had
knowledge of the future.

But now I understand
it all was just a grand
illusion I believed.

The trolls are out today...

Furniture started at 5.4, now it's scraping by at 5.22...and Alt Med is at 4.6. Blech.

But hey there's a cross-dressing challenge! woohoo! let's see if I can do it without having to cut my hair....or maybe I can get loverboy to get in drag....;-)

...and I just had another batch o' pix chosen by fotolia, so that balances things out for me...I must be doing SOMETHING right. I really don't get too wound up over crappy scores. Just so long as voters indicate WHY they found them crappy, I'm happy.

Oh,posthumous, and Kelli, if you're around - shudderbug, aka Wendy Stevenson, had a pic of hers on the LO homepage yesterday, don't know if it's still there.

Thanks for the poem, Jeffrey! We've got at least two poets on board at Team Suck, between you and Posthumous. And I'm thinking maybe Raish pens a verse or two?

I find this rather depressing. While I don't think any of these shots are winners, I don't think they are that sucky. I can see my Free Study not having apapeal even though I like it, and the score didn't really bother me. But now, having 3 on my front page DOES bother me. I have no plans to enter circle, and may enter Noise (or grain, or whatever it's called)--but I may not enter anything!

yooohooo!!!!! :) plase, please, I would love to look at it!!

Jeffrey, on that Alan's photo it looks like we are the wall on which the shadows reflect. does this make sence? the wall or something, whatever. it looks like those ancient russian icons, whith their reverse perspective: whith objects "far" from us, on the horison line, made bigger than the objects on the foreground - showing that it's not us who look at the icons, but they look us from there. how cool is that?
Alan, you are a genious. I've been thinking about this idea a lot, but I was not thinking creative enough, so I started changing the perspective and objects sizes in PS, but Alan made it in basic rules!!

Hehehehe, Svetlana, I just told him that I did mistake that for one of your shots...and I thought faery's entry for Ice was yours. Go read her post-challenge comment, she considered it a huge compliment to be mistaken for you! :-)
03/07/2007 01:51:49 PM · #1574
I had a great idea for "Ice", but couldn't get everything together for it. I was going to spike up my hair, get some bad sunglasses, and an 80's looking leather jacket, and title the shot "Vanilla".

I thought it was funny..
