With high ISO and low resolution, I could not get grain. Of course, when I do not want grain I manage to get it. I should have just used my camera phone. I also got one comment-from sevilduvarci.

I suspect the top entries will be done by photoshop wizards that can make it look film grainy instead of digital noisy.

Yeah now that I look at the entries I can see the difference between film grainy and digital noise. Mine is digital noise which isn't going over too well. Oh well...live and learn. I loved it before I saw all the other ones.

Here is a comment that I got on my grain shot that actually made me feel good.

I can't believe I'm about to say this but, the color noise actually looks good here. I didn't know it could be done!

I just got a comment on my Crossdress entry that said "not cross enough"
03/14/2007 04:52:10 PM · #1930
Yay, Bob!! Love it when stuff like that happens. :-)

And Catherine, I'm quite offended. So much so that I think I shall go sit in the corner and pout. Or putt. Whichever. (Just kidding!)

I had considered re-editing (I used "noise") when I saw that grain would be allowed, but couldn't see going back and doing it all again when I'd only get a 5.2 regardless. :-) Besides, as I mentioned, I prefer the shot without grain anyway. I like it without sharpness, too. I'm totally hopeless, I think.

oh!:) it wasn't me I hope? I left some comments like: sorry dear girls, you look very sexy and cute in guys clothes but still look like girls. there are some very very nice photos there. I didn't give them lower votes because of that though!

Nope - it wasn't you. Some "No Camera - Vote Only" person.
And I used a male model.

I'm in 3 challenges and they're all over 5. Who'da thunk?

But I'm feeling left out because I didn't cross dress.
03/14/2007 05:43:04 PM · #1934
Raish, go ahead and put on your best dress and heels and take a shot just for us. You'll feel better. Really. :-)

Am having fun with those who commented on Crossdress, at least one person doesn't see any crossdressing...which means I have succeeded, bwwwahahahahahaaa!

Don, thanks for the post on voting. It's good to have things like that in place to act as guidelines. Brookied, glad you're back in action, hope chest OK now.

Gotta go vote then run home to watch America's Next Top Model - useful to see what poses etc work, esp in relation to lighting.

ther are some good scores happing here! well done, everyone!

i'm only in circle, and it's bombing, big time. it seems i'ma bit too tangential, and not realistic enough. o well. i haven't even looked at voting yet - still getting over the flu. gawd, this influenza a goes on and on and on and on...

i have an architectural photo shoot tomorrow for a rental agency - if they like the result, they'll get me to do all their stuff! this is a big summer rental area with lots of big houses, so thsi is a good thing. they didn't even quibble at the fees, or my impromptu srucharge for web work only - no prints. cool.

so, am i too cheap, or are they rich?

Christian, congrats on that upcoming architectural shoot! You go, girl :-)

I got the nicest comment imaginable from bmartuch on my grain challenge entry. I can't repeat it now, but it made my day. Thanks, Bob!

Well, dear Catherine.....

I'll see your bmartuch and raise you one that I got from a "DPC Superhero".

I cannot believe this guy's strange luck.

First......on his profile page there are FOUR shots from a high of 7.2020 to a low of 7.1224.

This guy has six ribbons.......

NOT ONE OF THEM IS FROM THE FOUR ON THE PROFILE PAGE!!!!!!

And we think we have any right to moan!

Anyhow, his comment was quite incisive and articulate making me feel truly terrific as well as the really nice comment from Bob.

So Catherine....are you watching your score CAREFULLY??????

Mine's been steadily creeping up all day.

But.......it's only the first day.

Funny thing is.....Lisa and I both think we like my Time entry better!

This has NEVER happened before that I got tagged a favorite during a challenge, much less on the first day!

I'm definitely going to want you guys to pick the "Real" winner between my Time and Grain pics after the abuse period stops......8>)

Oh.....Christian......'bout time you got some recognition for your work that'll PAY!!!!!

Way to go!!!

Don't forget we knew you when!.....8>)

Edit: Fat, spastic fingers, DAMMIT!!!!

LOL NikonJeb we are really running neck-and-neck, within one one-hundredth on our grain scores. We may end up finished next to each other! Edit to add: but I've got 12 comments, so there! :-)

Has this ever happened to you? I have 2 photos for free study and I can't decide which one to enter. They are completely different and I really like both of them. I wish I could find a way to stick the one I took today into one of these new challenges but there's no way. Grrrr...

Sounds like some high scores from some people in here!!!

Hey, from what I've seen of the scores in the noise thread, we're gonna do Team Suck proud!

After the entries in Street, and just the way that we seem to all be doing much better across the board, people are going to realize any day now that we have consistently brought out truly fine photographs that get noticed for serious composition and meeting the challenges.

I don't want to get cocky, but I'm pretty sure that my entry will hang tough.

I just hope you beat me by that hundredth or thousandth so that you get to do the commentary!.....8>)

Any other Team Suck members that are doing well?

****************THIS WEEK'S RESULTS******************

BLUE = The OOFers = 6.1338
RED == Butterflies = 6.0656
YLW == Team Novice = 5.8388
quad = The Hoovers = 5.694266667
i.p. == Team Minus == 5.5167
BRWN = Team Entropy = 5.3607

Let's hear it for the OOFers whose two ringers have brought down the butterflies at last!

Competition for sucklacking was fierce this week, but hipychik's simply ridiculous 6.8+ gives her the Momentary Lapse of Sucking Award! Poor chik, so soon after initiation and now you must give us comments again! But that is how we "reward" the high scores around here...

Almost every free study. :) Although for this one, the leading contender has been pretty clear from day 1.

Can you easily retake either of them? Enter the other one.

I've got a funny trio of scores going. Time and Grain are scraping along at 5.1 but circles is sitting at 6.1.
